What will a Duchess feed her new Prince?

At Canada Beef we’ve been thinking about babies long before the arrival of the newest Royal – beef & babies to be exact! New guidelines from Health Canada now recommend introducing iron-rich foods such as beef and red meats at 6 months of age. This differs from the past practice of introducing infant cereal, vegetables and fruit first. WHY THE CHANGE?

Iron is vital for brain development in infants and young children, key for children to reach their full potential. At about 6 months of age, babies need more iron than they can get from breast milk alone. Beef (and other red meats) is one of nature’s best quality protein and iron sources. AND since the iron in meat is easy for the body absorb, it’s a better iron source than fortified cereals.
